We went on a hike today out in Parrsborro, which is in our area, just about an hour away. I'm hoping to be able to attach some pictures after I write this, but we'll see how it goes.....It was so beautiful!
Today we are AGAIN at the mission home picking up Sister Moss. (Who was in Amherst with Sister McEwan right before I came). Her companion is going home and she will be companion less for a week, so she's joining up with us in her old area.
It is pretty cold here as well. Today we woke up to a thick frost on the car! It's sad the color on the trees was here and now it's gone! They died and are in the process of dying fast! I don't know if it happened really fast, or just that our weeks go by really fast and I didn't notice. But either way, sad. I don't want winter to come at all! It's going to be forever long.
Thanksgiving was good! On Sunday we had dinner with the Riley's, they aren't members. They are an old black couple who love us and we love them. :) They are full of attitude and fun. Then Monday night we ate with a member family, the Rance's. Joanna is an amazing cook and it was fabulous! But I seriously came away in pain. I kid you not. But they invited us back over last night for leftovers and all memory of that was gone! haha
So I mentioned that last Wednesday we were in Halifax for Zone Conference. It was so good! We had a general authority come speak, Elder Maynes and it was so inspiring. Little overwhelming, but mostly amazing. Got to go to the temple again. That's my third time already here. I so did not want to leave and go back to Amherst that day. haha Just being here in Halifax with tons of other missionaries and in the temple.....it felt nice.
So this last week we taught an older guy named Logan for the first time. We knocked into him a few weeks ago, and just barely got to meet with him this week. It was such a good lesson. He has some kind of speech difficulties, but once we started our lesson it was clear that he is a very wise and keen man. It went so well. He even wanted to come to church this week, and was going to read and pray from the BOM! It was funny, because he is a little rough looking. Ok, he's a huge tall round rough looking guy, and when we knocked into him I took him for NOT INTERESTED. I think I was about ready to run away from the door. But I'm glad Sister McEwan followed through with him, because it turned out to be amazing. And we're going to meet with him again tomorrow and see how things go. Just goes to show you can't judge people's intent and readiness at all! And you shouldn't.
We also taught a lady named Tanya this week. She is a single mom of three rowdy kids. I guess the sister missionaries have been teaching her for about a year and a half. She was mostly interested in her kids being taught for the longest time. But this week it was amazing to meet with her. She looked like a completely different person! She had a light in her eyes. And she told us how she had been praying and has recognized God's answers to her prayers. She didn't know she was bearing her testimony to us, but as she did, she brought me to tears. The spirit was so strong there. It was amazing. I have never heard her pray and she even wanted to say the prayer. Then at the end of our lesson she's like, "Can you leave me any scriptures to read that will help me to strengthen my faith?" Ummmmmm SURE. haha It was incredible and an amazing thing to see. I haven't seen anything like that since I've been out. Nobody seems to be like that AT ALL. We're going to meet with her tonight and tomorrow night as well, so we'll things how things are continuing to progress. WELL, I love you all so much. Write me!! Talk to you next week.
