This week a few days before Terry's baptism, we saw him on campus and a few of his friends came over to meet us. It was interesting. They immediately were asking us questions and telling us that Terry shouldn't rush into things.....It was so cool to be able to answer some of their questions and stand up for Terry,too,in his young testimony. After that, we understood better the opposition he receives from his friends and family. Not a great opposition, but not a great understanding or support either. But he's strong, it doesn't deter him at all. The baptism was great and turned out beautiful! I got to speak at it and play the piano a little bit. It was a really good night. And sacrament meeting the next day was equally as good. He told us repeatedly he felt so good. He was very at peace this whole weekend and into this week!
We've met some interesting people on the streets this week. One old man told us to our faces that we were crazy, brainwashed, wasting our time, and why aren't we out doing something better like humanitarian work? Thank goodness he was calm enough for me to respond to each of his objections -- that's the worst when they won't even let you talk back because they're getting so upset. But man, either way it was awful. It surely isn't the first time, but we just seemed to have a lot of it this week. We also met someone this week who told us that Joseph Smith has the characteristics of a schitzo.......OH the people you meet. This week has been full of them.
Speaking of which, I met Bon Jovi's look alike this week! It was awesome. He had the strut and everything coming at us down the street. Briefcase in one hand, cigarette in the other. When he saw us coming, he threw up his arms and called us angels. He tried to hug Sister Crofts haha.....because he has healing powers. A dying art apparently. He is a professor of psych nonetheless. And told us how grateful he is for our work (we didn't even get to say anything in this breif conversation), that we're on his team with him. It all took place in a matter of 30 seconds, and left us a little stunned. BUT I got to meet Bon Jovi's crazy lookalike!
