I'm sorry I haven't told you more about our investigators. Truth be told, it’s because we only have 2, soon to be 0. Teaching is so slow here in the Passage, and it’s the most miserable thing you could ever do as a missionary (have no one to teach). We are trying to be even more diligent on our part and continue to find so that we can teach! That said though, the two we have are amazing! Shona is incredible. She's in her 30's, has four young children. She already seems like a member to me. She is just waiting for her husband to give the message a chance. Hard part is that they left today to go home to Newfoundland for a month vacation. But they'll be back. I can't help but think it’s a really good thing. Her husband needs a little time to catch up with her, because we definitely don't want it to be a division. He's a good man, but stubborn. He'll come around. I'm praying that he'll receive the experiences he needs for his heart to be opened so they can be baptized as a family. When we said goodbye to Shona this week, she was in tears! She knows that one of us might not be here when she gets back and that's hard for her. I love her so much. I'm really going to miss being around here while she's gone. Our other investigator is 9 year old Hailey, who is getting baptized on the 24th! She is so adorable. She loves learning! And after we leave, she always copies our lessons and makes little "books" and things to teach it to her neighbor friend. Her family is less active, but trying to become more active. There is usually a LOT of stress and contention in the home with her mom and grandparents but they seem to be slightly softening lately which is a huge blessing.
Yep, its foggy today. I thought I'd inform you all, that I've officially started saying "eh" now. :) Like: "That was a short ride eh?" or "We should probably get going eh?" Just throwing it in at the end of sentences haha. There are other small things that I say that have been in my vocabulary for a while now that you’ll probably notice when I get home. But now I just need to start incorporating the Nova Scotia suck. Haha. Actually, no. I hope that one never rubs off on me.
This past week my doggy nightmare came true! Kinda. So I've told you that in this area, I'm starting to develop a slight fear of dogs because EVERYONE has a dog. And most are HUGE. And MANY ARE MEAN! Anyway, many times we'll be talking at a door and the owner is nearly choking his snarling dog trying to hold him back in the doorway. So I was telling Sister Billings the other day, that my greatest fear is some kid is just going to come and open the door and not be able to contain the dog. So.......the other day Sister Billings and I knock on this door.....and this kid playing in the street runs up to the house and says, "I'll get my mom" and I can see this HUGE dog through the window -- clamoring at the door. I was like, "Don't let the dog out....!" And the door comes open, the little kid gets run over by a dog twice his height, and I bolt off the patio hahaha. It was the BIGGEST Great Dane I have ever seen in my life!!!!!!!!!!! He was even brownish/orange with dark spots. He looked like a leopard. haha. Turns out he was just hyper and nosy and not too mean........THANK GOODNESS! But I tell you, he could've knocked me over in an instant, sat on me and ate my face off. That's how big he was!!! Anyway, that's your story for the week. It was hilarious. And shocking all at the same time.
Much Love from someone in Canada,
Jen
