This is my district at district meeting yesterday. I love my district!!There's Elder Haskell, Crapo, Dewey (DL), Schow, Redd, Smith, me and Sister Billings. In Canada we just celebrated Thanksgiving on Monday and this past weekend!!! So HAPPY THANKSGIVING! It's kind of strange to have it happen before Halloween. We got invited to two Thanksgiving meals, one on Sunday, and one on Monday. They were very good. On Sunday, it was with members the Pinsent's. They're great. The dad was away, but the mom and her 7 kids under the age of 18..........! and us all gathered around the table and ate things she said her husband would never like. For instance, they had a ham instead of turkey. It was a crazy loud meal, they are seriously nuts but SO much fun. I've never like sweet potatoes before but ever since last Thanksgiving, I love them! Come to think of it, there are a lot of things I never liked to eat before my mission that I do now. I didn't even think I was that picky, but a mission will take any and ALL the pickiness out of you! And then on Monday we ate with this FHE group of old couples and singles. It was fun.
So its getting really cold and brisk outside!!!! I know I didn't really like the heat, but I don't think I'm ready for the cold. I love layering, but I'm a little sick of it from last year still. I hope I survive winter haha. We wake up at 6 every day and go out and meet up with Sister Pinsent who walks around the Colby Village loop (just a huge round neighborhood). We don't go all the way with her, we just walk part of the way and then jog back. But she always makes fun of us because we're so bundled haha. But it seems especially cold too coming from a warm bed! Anyway, she walks around the big loop while her daughter is in early morning seminary at the church. She is a life saver to us! It makes exercising in the freezing cold all the more bearable!
So the work is going good here.......things are picking up. We have a lot of great potentials that we are excited about!! And last night had an amazing lesson with our investigator Dave. We didn't even expect it to be anything out of the ordinary, but it was awesome. We have had a hard time trying to arrange for some members to come with us to his lessons, but things finally worked out this week with members the Glanfields. They are a young couple maybe in their 30's and President Glanfield is in the Stake Presidency here. So you can imagine that they are pretty amazing and cool people. So we hadn't seen Dave for a week and a half because of circumstance on his part, and we almost expected to have to backtrack in our lesson and I was a little nervous. Especially to have members there. I don't know why that made me nervous this time. BUT the lesson fell into place and my nervousness quickly gave way to peace and contentment and easy teaching. Dave opened up a lot. And the Glanfields had the perfect things to interject and say. Dave pretty much committed himself to come to church every week and stay all three hours! And you can just tell he has a desire for change in his life. He really does. And even though he's not on date for baptism after last night, he knows for sure our purpose and wants to work towards it for maybe December or January. Really, that's not that long. We're talking about a lifestyle change here. Afterward,President Glanfield was exchanging phone numbers and wanted to get together for this doggy park play date thing with their dogs and it was awesome! I don't even know if he was trying to be the perfect fellowshipper, but he sure was! Anyway, it was actually a very fun, simple and humble visit filled with the Spirit. We drove home at the end of the night right after, and I felt soooo happy. My joy was full. It was one of those bursting moments when I wanted to cry for joy. Those moments are somewhat rare, but wow, what a beautiful night!
Well I need to go, Much LOVE,
Sister Jen Olsen
