So last night we get off the plane to find Pres Simpson and his wife! They were snapping pictures away (apparently they're going to send you some slideshow or something). They gave us a sack lunch dinner on the drive over in the van....only took about 20 min to get to the mission home. It hit the spot. Biggest green grapes I've ever seen! haha. Then we toured the home. It's actually right next to a lake. Apparently everyone here lives next to some random lake. You can't see the lake right from the home, but it's pretty around. The home is cool. Cozy. Went to bed after cleaning up.Then we got up this morning, had breakfast with the AP's here, went to the temple! It's so small! But it was good to be there. I was so incredibly tired through it though. I may or may not have shut my eyes. There were a lot of missionaries there, I guess just for all this transferring stuff. We ate lunch.....played some ping pong while Pres worked on some stuff with his APs. Him and his wife are so great - they're funny. They banter back and forth just like any parents, I like them! So then we went to the mission office in town and got oriented a little bit.
I found out I will be serving with Sister McEwan in Amherst, Nova Scotia! I think I'm excited. hahah. It's about a two hour drive from here I guess. Sister Billings is going two hours in another direction. But I guess we'll see each other next week at the "sister's conference" here at the mission home. And we'll get to go to the temple again. So that'll be good. Hopefully I get to go shopping soon too to get all the stuff I need. Apparently Amherst will be just fine to get what I need. I was surprised last night with the weather! I was expecting humid and stuffy because everyone talks up the humidity, but last night was brisk! Today was nice and it's already cooling off with a cool wind. Soo....I think winter is going to come fast. I'm sure it gets hot here in the summer, but I'm so glad it's not smothering humid.
So there are only 12 sisters in the mission, soon to be 11 this week (this is including me and Sister Billings). No sisters are being sent into Newfoundland and Maine right now. No missionaries go to Labrador. Pres Simpson said I'll probably be with my trainer for two transfers (about 3 months) if all goes well. So in the whole mission, there are two stakes, one district, branches in Newfoundland and then 12 members in Labrador. Insane! But anyway, I'm excited to get to work. A little nervous. But I can't wait to try! So far I like the people here! I'll meet my companion more tonight at dinner, then we'll interview with Pres. Simpson and then we'll leave to our areas. I don't know if there's any other sisters in Amherst. I'm thinking not. Our district and zone leaders are a little ways away. So it'll be just us out there! It is pretty and green here. So far, no spectacular sites here in Dartmouth, but its pretty. I love you all SO much. So so much!Sister Olsen
